I get that all the time…
When I first have a conversation with someone that surpasses the realm of native regions and college majors, their response is almost always something along the lines of “I’m surprised you’re from LA”, “You seem more like a Nor-Cal person”, or “San Francisco is thee absolute perfect place for you”.
As irritated as I am of overly prideful Bay Area kids in San Diego, I do take that as a compliment.
